Artificial quartz stone is a relatively new type of stone compared to marble and granite, also known as engineered quartz stone, which is formed by 90% quartz sand powder and 10% quartz stone resin, shaped under high pressure, vacuum conditions, and high temperatures. It is a kind of non-radioactive pollution, environmentally friendly, reusable, green new material for building and decoration. Its main raw materials are quartz sand powder, accounting for about 90%, and quartz stone resin, color paste, and other auxiliary materials, accounting for about 10%.

Conditions Of Making Real Quartz Stone

Production of quartz stone must fully meet the following four conditions; it is fake quartz stone if only one condition is not met.

1. Quartz resin content (including all liquid accessories) 7-12%. With less than 7%, toughness of the slabs will be insufficient, easy to break; with more than 12%, slabs will easily deform. The resin content of quartz stone from many manufacturers is about 15%, so it is fake quartz stone.
2. Quartz slabs must be shaped under high pressure and vacuum conditions. With low-pressure forming or pouring forming, the compactness of quartz stone slabs is insufficient, easy to permeate color, and not stain resistant. Many manufacturers in China are mainly low-pressure forming, so it is false quartz stone.
3. Curing and setting at a high temperature. Many manufacturers in China use mainly cold curing or low temperature curing below 100 °C, so it will be false quartz stone.
4. The hardness of quartz stone slabs must be provided by quartz sand. Glass is not quartz, and the proportion of glass particles in the quartz stone slabs (mass percentage) must be below 20%. Quartz resin is a quartz stone matrix material, that plays a bonding role in the quartz stone slabs and provides toughness.

Filling Material:

Quartz stone filling material is mainly composed of silica, including quartz stone sand, quartz stone powder, casting sand, broken glass, shell, also sea sand. Its main functions are:

• filling the space
• enhance the texture of quartz stone
• enhance the mechanical properties of quartz stone
• as a flame retardant

Color Paste:

Color paste in quartz stone is to deploy varieties of color, so that the color is rich and colorful. Theoretically speaking, any color can be deployed through various kinds of color paste.

Curing Agent:

A curing agent is an essential auxiliary for the production of quartz stone, and good quartz stone is cured at high temperatures.

Other Additives:

Quartz stone resin is a polymer material. The appropriate addition of some additives can improve process performance, also improve production efficiency, improve the performance of quartz stone, and extend service life.
